Can we talk about how subs vs dubs arguments ignore that dubbing is objectively harder work
I saw a guy on Reddit say dubbing is 'lazy' because the voice actors just read over the animation, and I genuinely can't stop thinking about how wrong that is. A sub actor gets to match the original performance beat by beat, but a dub actor has to fit a whole new language into mouth flaps that were animated for Japanese syllables, and I've watched enough behind the scenes clips to know that takes wild timing and rewrites. Am I the only one who thinks dub hate is mostly just people who grew up on subs and never tried it the other way?
