I was spending $50 a day on a single Facebook ad set for a whole year

The moment it clicked was when I saw my friend's kid's lemonade stand. He had a simple sign and just talked to people. I realized I'd been throwing money at a broad audience, hoping something stuck, instead of actually talking to anyone. My whole strategy was just 'spend and pray'. I stopped that campaign cold, started asking customers where they heard about us, and found out 80% came from one small forum. How do you even start a real conversation with an audience you've only ever yelled at through ads?

Ever notice how we pay for attention instead of just talking to people?

That $50 a day for a year is a gut punch, man.

Consider what else we're paying for without even noticing. That daily coffee or app subscription adds up just as fast. Makes you wonder where the real money pit is.
