Hot take: Native ads beat display for my last campaign

Ran a $200 test between native and display ads for a local bakery ad. Native brought in 12 orders, display got 3. Has anyone else seen that big a gap?

That 12 to 3 gap is way bigger than I usually see too. What nobody talks about is how native ads work better when the product is something people already want but didn't plan to buy. Like a bakery. Nobody wakes up and thinks "I need to find a bakery on a display ad" but if they see a sponsored post about fresh croissants in their feed while scrolling, they're already hungry and ready to click. Display ads feel too much like a billboard on the internet, people just look past them. Native ads sneak in like a suggestion from a friend, which is why they convert way better for stuff like food or local services.

Wait, is that why I always end up ordering from places I see on Instagram but never click banner ads? That bakery example is spot on because I literally did that last week with a taco spot near my house. I wasn't even hungry when I saw the post but then I was like "oh yeah I could eat" and next thing I know I'm ordering delivery. It's weird how billboard ads just feel like noise, even if the product is good. Like I'll see a display ad for a pizza place ten times and ignore it, but one native post about their sauce or whatever and I'm already sold.
