Hot take: I chose a $500 local radio spot over a cheap Facebook ad blitz last quarter
I had a small budget for my bike shop in Austin and needed to pick one. The radio ad ran for two weeks on a morning show, and I got maybe 15 calls from it. The Facebook ads would have been cheaper, but I think the local voice built more trust. Has anyone else picked a traditional ad over a digital one recently and been surprised?

Fifteen calls for five hundred bucks is a tough sell. You can track a Facebook ad down to the penny and know exactly who clicked and when. A radio spot just throws your message into the void and hopes the right person is listening. Those fifteen calls could have been from anyone, and you have no real way to follow up or learn about them. Digital ads let you aim right at people who already search for bike repairs or new trails. Trust is good, but knowing your exact return is better for a tight budget.

Totally get that. My friend owns a bakery and did the same thing with a local paper coupon instead of Instagram ads. She said the physical clipping people brought in felt way more real than a like online. Those 15 calls probably turned into regulars who tell their friends. Sometimes the old ways just hit different for building a real local crowd.
