Hit $50k in monthly ad spend for the first time and it was a total wake-up call

I've been doing ad buying for about 3 years, mostly small local accounts under $5k a month. Then I got a client that wanted to scale fast and I hit $50k in spend last month. The data looked great on paper but I realized I was just burning cash without really understanding attribution. I had no clue how much of that was actually driving sales versus brand awareness fluff. Now I'm digging into UTM tags and post-click metrics way harder. Has anyone else hit a spend level where you felt totally out of your depth at first?

$50k in spend without solid attribution is basically gambling with someone else's money. Three years in and you jumped from $5k to $50k a month? That's a massive leap that would rattle anyone. Setting up proper UTM tags and post-click data feels like a whole new job compared to running small local accounts. Most people learn this stuff after losing thousands, not before. You caught it quick though, that's better than most.

My buddy hit $30k monthly spend before realizing his Facebook pixel was broken for six months.

@hernandez.finley nailed it about gambling with someone else's money, that's exactly the sinking feeling I had when the reports came in. What specific post-click metrics made the biggest difference for you once you started digging into them?
