Finally cut my cost per lead from $47 to $19 after 6 weeks of testing
Three years ago I was burning through $2,000 a week on Facebook ads for a dental client in Phoenix and getting nothing but junk leads. Last Tuesday I ran the numbers and my cost per lead hit $19, down from $47 back in March. The fix was boring stuff, killing the audience network placements and testing 4 new hooks in one ad set. Curious if anyone else has seen placement opt outs make that big a dent or if it was just my account.
Doubt the placement opt out did much on its own. Audience network is mostly junk traffic anyway, so yeah you filter some bots, but $47 to $19 in 6 weeks usually means something else moved, like your creative finally hitting or Facebook just finding the right people after enough spend. Four new hooks in one ad set also splits your data, so the algorithm picks a winner slower, which can look like a win when it's really just noise leveling out. Run the same test again next month with a fresh ad set and see if $19 holds, because one good week in March doesn't prove much.
