Facebook ads manager completely changed my ROI last month

For two years I was just boosting posts through Instagram on my phone. Finally used the actual Ads Manager on desktop for a local plumbing client in Phoenix and my cost per lead dropped from $18 to $4.50. It's insane how much targeting control you get vs just hitting that boost button. Has anyone else ignored the real dashboard for way too long?

Buddy of mine wasted six months boosting posts before he figured it out.

Alicecooper, your buddy isn't alone. I spent a whole year throwing money at boosted posts before I realized the problem was my targeting, not the content itself. What finally worked was narrowing my audience to a tiny group of people who actually needed what I was selling. Once I did that, the same posts started pulling in sales without any extra ad spend. Hope your friend finds his way soon, it's a frustrating ride.

Narrowing my audience to a tiny group of people" - yeah, that's the stuff. I did the exact same thing after burning through way too much cash on ads that went absolutely nowhere. It was like throwing money into a hole until I realized I was shouting at everyone instead of just the few folks who actually cared. @max_ross is spot on about the targeting being the real problem, not the posts themselves. Once I stopped trying to reach the whole internet and focused on that small, specific group, everything just clicked into place without needing to spend more.
