Dropped $500 on google ads for a local plumbing gig and got one call that didn't even book

Spent $500 on targeted search ads in Austin for a month and only got one phone call from a guy who just wanted to complain about his water pressure, anyone else feel like google ads are a total black hole for service businesses?

Have you checked if your ads are actually showing up for the right searches? I had a client who was paying for clicks but his keywords were too broad, like "plumber Austin" which brings up a ton of competition and people just browsing. Try narrowing it down to something specific like "emergency pipe repair Austin" or "water heater install" so you're catching folks with an actual problem they need fixed right now. Also, make sure your landing page has a clear button to call and the phone number is easy to find, because if people have to hunt for it they just bounce. How many clicks did you actually get out of that $500?

Had a buddy burn through $300 in one day on "Austin plumber" with zero calls.
