Update: That time I tried Carolina Reaper wings in Austin

I regretted it immediately. The beer helped, but not enough.

Yeah the thing about those super hot wings that gets me is the delayed reaction. You take a bite and for a second you're like 'okay, I got this', and then it just builds and builds into this full body experience. Read a piece once where a chef said the Carolina Reaper's heat comes in waves, and that's exactly what it felt like when I tried some. The beer is almost a trap because it just spreads the capsaicin around. Your body goes into full panic mode, it's wild. Not sure any amount of milk after would have saved me either.

Disagree with derek_craig62, the building heat is what makes Reaper wings great.
