DAE dread the post-travel smart home reset more than the jet lag?
Nothing kills the vacation glow faster than having to reboot every connected device because the system timed out.

My smart bulbs all developed amnesia while I was gone. I'm starting to think the jet lag sympathy vote is rigged.

Classic. So when you got back, did they just forget all their settings entirely, or was it more like they reverted to blinding default white at 3 AM? I'm wondering if it's a DHCP lease issue where your router reassigned IPs and the bulbs couldn't find home, or if the hub itself just gave up and purged its memory. That whole 'reassurance' thing Stella mentioned feels spot on, like your house throws a passive-aggressive fit until you manually reboot every single device. Makes me miss dumb bulbs that only forgot how to work when they burned out.

Read a piece in Wired recently that basically said our routers throw a tantrum when they don't see familiar devices for a while. I mean, it's like the whole system gets suspicious and locks everything out until you personally reassure it. Idk, maybe it's just me but after dealing with that last month, I started leaving a smart plug on for a fake plant or something. That article suggested it's a common flaw in how these systems handle prolonged absence, not just a glitch. Makes the whole 'connected home' thing feel a bit high-maintenance for post-vacation exhaustion.
