Am I the only one who feels uneasy when family watches my sketchbook tours?
Many artists enjoy sharing sketchbook tours with family for support. But when my older brother watches, he always compares my work to his professional standards. I start to doubt my own style and progress. Now, I only share my tours with online artist friends. Family intentions are good, but their feedback can limit creative growth.

Protect your vibe.
Ever notice how family sees your work through their own lens? Their good intentions still land like criticism. It puts you in a box. Your online friends get it because they're in the same creative zone. Sharing should feel safe, not like a judgment.

Consider how family knows your old self, not just your art. They remember your past tries and hopes, so their view is mixed with that. Online friends meet your work as it is now, with no past to change how they see it. This makes sharing with them feel safer because they look at the work, not you. Protecting your vibe might mean letting go of old labels from family. It's about finding spaces where your current work is the whole picture.

Try setting clear lines with family about what feedback you actually want. I mean, I only show them finished pieces now, not the messy drafts. Idk, it cuts down on them seeing your work through old memories. Maybe it's just me, but online circles get your current style without all that baggage. Keep your vibe safe by sharing early steps where people get the process. It honestly makes creating way less stressful.
