After years of following common advice, I've come to see morning routines as a creativity killer rather than a productivity booster. Does structured ritual or spontaneous start work better for you?

Seriously, what specific parts of the routine started feeling like a cage?

Wasn't the worst part the non-negotiable wake-up time? I used to believe in that structure, but abby926's take on spontaneity missing shifted my view. It's that absence of flexibility that truly builds the bars.

For three months, I followed a 5 AM wake-up call religiously. Turns out, my most creative idea at that hour was debating whether to hit snooze or just accept existential dread. The rigid schedule sucked all spontaneity out of my mornings, and I started feeling like a cog in my own machine. Now I just roll out of bed when the cat demands breakfast, and my output hasn't suffered. If anything, the lack of structure lets my brain wake up on its own terms.
