During my last domino project, I insisted on tight spacing. Your post about the click being just right with better gaps totally convinced me!

I always leave a tiny gap (like 1mm) for that crisp, satisfying click.

What kind of surface are you setting them up on? I used to fight with that on an old wooden table that wasn't totally flat. The fix for me was putting down a sheet of poster board first to make a perfectly even base. That way, the spacing stays consistent from one end to the other and nothing tips over early.
