Noticing the timeline error in that old rage comic's origin
Back in the day, 'Foul Bachelor Frog' was huge. Folks said it started on 4chan around 2010. But I found posts from a humor site from late 2009. How did such a simple fact get so twisted?

You know how folks swear it started on 4chan in 2010? That's probably the real answer for them. Early internet culture had these walled gardens. If something blew up on a big forum like that, it felt like it was born there, even if it crawled out from a smaller site first. The 2009 humor site post was likely just the first crawl. 4chan was the stage where it learned to walk and became a star. So both sides are kinda right, in their own context.

My buddy had this stupid inside joke with his roommates that somehow ended up on some big meme page a month later. People were arguing about where it came from while we were just laughing our asses off.

Actually yeah, what gets me is how it totally changes the joke for you guys once it's out there. Like part of you is proud it caught on, but then you can't even say it to each other anymore without thinking of all the random people using it wrong. The inside part just dies, and it becomes this weird public thing that used to mean something specific. Kind of a bummer in a way, even if it's funny it got big. It just leaves this empty spot where your private laugh was.
