My accidental discovery of a forgotten monastery in the Bulgarian mountains has me puzzled.

I was driving through the Rhodopes and took a detour down a dirt road, stumbling upon these ancient ruins with no visitors or caretakers. It's beautiful but eerily silent, and I can't decide if it's sad that it's forgotten or a blessing that it's untouched. How do you all feel about places that time seems to have left behind?

Shocked you found no caretakers there. What happened to the monks?

Absolutely! I know exactly what you mean... I once got lost hiking in the Scottish Highlands and found this crumbling stone chapel, completely overgrown with moss and heather. The silence was so thick it felt like walking into a photograph... no birds, no wind, just this heavy stillness. I sat on a broken pew for what felt like hours, just soaking in the emptiness. Part of me wanted to tell everyone about it, but another part was glad it was still a secret, you know? Like some places are meant to be stumbled upon and then left alone... It’s that weird mix of melancholy and peace that gets me every time.
