When a regular asked me to lie about her hair color
She needed a note for work saying her bright red was natural. I said no, but it made me think about how often we bend the truth for clients. That small choice changed how I handle similar requests now.

My buddy at a salon once fudged a client's color formula for a "corporate look" she wanted. That client came back FURIOUS two weeks later when it faded all weird, demanding a huge refund and trashing the shop online. It totally blew up in his face over a tiny white lie. Now he says even small bends in the truth can snap back way harder than you expect. Really makes you stick to your guns.

Had a similar thing with a home repair job. Client wanted me to use cheaper materials to cut costs, but I knew it would cause issues down the line. I laid out the pros and cons honestly, and they agreed to stick with the better stuff. When their neighbor had problems with a quick fix, they were glad they listened.

Honesty like that pays off big time in the long run. Clients might not get it right away, but when they see others having issues, it all makes sense. Building that trust means they come back and tell their friends about you. Your client's relief when their neighbor had problems really shows you did the right thing. Sticking to your principles might be tough at first, but it saves everyone a headache down the road. Really glad it worked out for both of you.
