I finally understood my old boss's strict rules on client vetting.
Saying no to a questionable fix was the hardest but right call.

But sometimes a questionable job is just a foot in the door, you know? Like, maybe taking a chance builds more trust than a hard no ever could. Idk, strict rules can feel like you're leaving money and connections on the table.

Lenny's big break turned into three years of broken promises.

Actually, that foot in the door can sometimes swing back and hit you in the face. A shady first job sets a bad tone for the whole relationship, so every future ask becomes a messy negotiation. Saying no to quick cash builds a different kind of trust, the kind where clients know your yes actually means something. Strict rules just filter out the people who would cause you the biggest headaches later.
