Saw my neighbor in two places at once and it messed with my head
So last week, I was walking to the store and saw my neighbor, Mr. Jenkins, in his yard. I waved, kept walking, and when I turned the corner, I saw him again, but this time he was wearing a different shirt. I know it was him because of his distinct hat. I used to laugh at stories like this, calling them tricks of the mind. But seeing it myself, I can't explain it. It felt too real to ignore. Now I wonder if there's more to these moments than we think. Has anyone else had something like this happen?

Whoa, that's wild but honestly our brains mess up more than we admit. A hat alone isn't proof, and a quick shirt change could be anything. It's way more likely you just saw two similar looking guys or your mind filled in the blanks.

Our brains mess up, but so do our eyes. What if he was avoiding someone? A shirt swap isn't that hard to pull off.

A shirt swap in public is actually pretty hard to do without being seen. You'd need a bag, a place to change, and a reason to go through all that trouble. The brain filling in blanks is a much simpler answer for a quick glance. Our memory isn't a video recording, it's more like a sketch that gets redrawn. It's just way more common to misremember a detail than to witness a full disguise.
