Question about using a 4-inch grinder versus a belt sander for edge work

Had a big beveled edge job on 3/4 inch glass and went with the grinder for speed. Ended up with a cleaner finish after switching to 220 grit belts, but it added an hour. Anyone have a better method for this?

Oh man, I feel that. My usual method is to start with the grinder and then spend the next hour fixing my mistakes.

Is it really that big of a deal though? I mean, it's just a grinder.

Actually, a belt sander is the right tool for that job from the start.
