Yeah, judging heat by eye was such a specific skill. It's cool that the new tech makes things more exact, but feels like a little bit of that old craft gets lost.

Watching that old skill fade out bugs me. Tech gives us perfect numbers now, but the guy who could just look at the metal knew it in his bones. That gut feeling from years of doing it meant something. You can't put that kind of know-how into a sensor. It just turns everything into following a readout, and the craft part dies.
