My old graphite paddle vs. the new steel one I got in Seattle

I used the graphite one for years, but the steel paddle's heat retention for shaping is a total game changer. Anyone have a strong preference for one over the other?

Oh man, that's the truth. It's funny how often the right tool just feels obvious once you try it, like you never should have messed with the old way.

Ever try using a spoon for something dumb like @the_mark said?

Honestly, that steel paddle sounds like a total hassle waiting to happen. Graphite is so much lighter and way easier to handle for long sessions, which matters more than a bit of extra heat. That extra weight from steel just tires your wrist out for no real gain. New tools always feel like a game changer for the first week, then the shine wears off. You end up going back to the old reliable thing that just works without fighting you.
