My annealing kiln's back corner runs way too hot

I've cracked three solid pieces this month from uneven cooling. The rear section stays hotter, which sets up stress lines as the glass sets. How do you balance the heat in an older oven without a full rebuild?

Ugh, classic kiln personality disorder right there. Yours just decided the back corner is its favorite child and gets all the heat. Maybe try whispering sweet nothings to the front, see if it gets jealous and warms up. Seriously though, that hot spot is basically building in stress lines like a tiny glass time bomb, no wonder stuff is cracking.

My kiln's hot spot is so bad I've started annealing my trust issues along with the glass.
