Badlands are the ultimate geology classroom, no contest!
I just returned from South Dakota, and the Badlands National Park totally rocked my world! Those layered sedimentary rocks let you peek into millions of years of Earth's past. The stripes of red, yellow, and gray tell tales of ancient oceans and shifting climates. Honestly, if you call yourself a rock lover but skip this spot, you're missing out big time! Standing on the edge, I could trace whole epochs with my eyes. It's like nature's own timeline, way better than any textbook diagram. That trip gave me a fresh kick of passion for plain old stones. Trust me, go see it and feel the history under your feet!

What helped me wrap my head around deep time was just picking one single layer and trying to picture the world when it was mud. Once I did that for one stripe, the whole stack of them started to feel real. That mental trick made the scale click for me.

Wait, millions of years in those rock layers? That's hard to even picture.

Picturing millions of years is totally mind-boggling. Those layers hold more history than our whole species has been around.
