My coworker saw my garage setup and now won't stop asking for favors
He thinks because I have a decent drill press, I'm his personal repair service. It's getting old fast.

Seriously, this happens ALL the time! You gotta set a firm boundary right now or it never ends. Tell him straight up your garage is for your own stuff, not a free repair shop. Maybe suggest he check out some YouTube tutorials to do it himself. Being clear now saves you a ton of headache later.

Wait, did you just suggest YouTube tutorials? That's actually kind of genius, @verab76. I mean some people just won't even try to learn to do stuff themselves, they'd rather bother you forever. Setting that hard line about your own space is the only way it stops, for real. I let a cousin store some boxes "for a week" once and it turned into six months, never again.

Have you ever let someone take advantage of your kindness? Honestly, I used to think that saying no was rude and that I should always help out. But after a friend turned my garage into his personal project space for months, I had to put my foot down. Ngl, setting that boundary was tough at first, but it saved our friendship and my sanity. Now I see that being clear upfront prevents resentment later.
