Watching a guy at the Denver airport try to charge his phone with a broken USB port changed how I pack.

I was stuck at gate B45 last Tuesday. This guy next to me was jamming his cable into his phone, getting more and more frustrated. He finally asked if I had a charger. I had my whole kit: a 20W wall plug, a USB-C cable, and a portable battery. He was shocked I carried all that. I used to just toss a single cable in my bag. Now I always pack a full charging setup. What's in your travel tech kit to avoid that kind of mess?

Seems like overkill to pack a whole charging station for one broken port. Most airports have charging spots now anyway. That guy just had bad luck. My single cable has never let me down.

Guess you've never had a cable fray or a port get dirty.

Bad luck is one thing, but being totally stuck is another. @dylanmurray, I see it differently. A single cable is a single point of failure. My phone is my boarding pass, my ride, my everything. I need a backup plan. A small battery pack and a wall plug take up no space and save the day when the airport spots are all taken or broken.
