janac22 said lies mess things up, but I gotta disagree hard here. If my buddy's new app is a total mess, I'm not gonna crush their dream with some brutal review. Remember when Sarah from work made that weird podcast tool no one used? She quit after one mean comment online. So maybe you say the design looks nice or the idea has potential, even if it's broken. That soft lie protects your friend's feelings and keeps the friendship solid. Truth can wait until they ask for real feedback, but upfront honesty might just burn a bridge over nothing.
