I see so many positive reviews for smart plugs, especially for holiday lights, but my try was disappointing. When I set up my porch lights this year, I used a popular brand of smart plugs. The idea was to automate the on and off times, but the app kept crashing. I had to reset the plugs multiple times, which ruined the festive mood. Reviews often say these gadgets are reliable and save time, but for me, they added extra work. I know some folks have good luck, but my experience was far from smooth. It makes me wonder if all the glowing reviews are from perfect setups. Have you had similar issues with smart home gadgets?

Ugh, what brand did you get? My smart plugs last year were the SAME way, just constant app problems. So much for a chill holiday vibe.

Try resetting your router first, @flores.robin, that actually fixes a lot of weird app problems. Those smart plugs just lose their connection sometimes and need a fresh start. It doesn't always work, but it's saved my setup a few times.
