Shoutout to the guy at the Best Buy in Springfield who talked me out of the cheap fitness tracker
I was set on buying the Fitbit Inspire 3 because it was only $80, but a salesperson there showed me the Garmin Venu Sq 2. He said the GPS was way better for my runs, and the battery lasts a full week. I got the Garmin instead, and after a month, the accuracy on my routes is insane compared to my old one. Anyone have tips for the best running apps to pair with a Garmin watch?

Got a similar story but with a car battery. Was dead set on the cheap store brand until the guy at the auto parts store asked if I park outside in the winter. Told me the cold cranking amps on the cheap one were garbage for our weather. Spent the extra forty bucks and my truck started every single morning last January. Sometimes the up-sell is actually good advice.

Wait you were gonna buy a fitness tracker without built in GPS for running? Honestly that's like getting a car with no wheels, it just defeats the whole point. Tbh those cheap ones are basically just fancy pedometers that guess your distance. Good on that sales guy for actually knowing his stuff and not just pushing the sale. The battery life alone on the Garmin is a total game changer.

That bit about the sales guy not pushing the sale is key. A lot of them just see a customer who doesn't know better and take the easy commission. Makes you wonder how many people get the wrong thing because the employee just can't be bothered to explain it. It takes more time to give good advice, so when you get it you know they actually care about the job. Really changes how you see that whole store.
