Shoutout to my brother who told me to ignore the early reviews on the new smartwatch

When the Garmin Venu 3 came out, the first wave of reviews on YouTube were pretty harsh, focusing on the price hike. My brother, who's a runner, told me to wait a month for the real user feedback to come in. He said the initial takes are often rushed and miss the long-term battery life and software updates. Sure enough, after about six weeks, the forums were full of people saying the new sleep tracking was a game-changer and the battery easily lasted a week. I bought it based on that and he was totally right. Has anyone else had a gadget where the early consensus was just completely off?

Honestly though, how many gadgets are we buying where this is a life or death choice? It's just a watch. If the battery ends up bad, you return it. The whole debate feels a bit over the top sometimes.

You're right about that first wave of reviews being rushed. I've seen it happen with phones, where the early complaints are all about the specs on paper. Then real people use it for a month and talk about how it actually feels in the hand day to day. It's a good reminder to be patient.

Ugh, I get what you're saying but I have to disagree. Those early reviews are super important. Remember when that phone had a screen that scratched crazy easy? People found out in the first week. Or when a game console overheated? The day one users are the ones who spot the big, real problems. Waiting a month means you might miss the chance to return a lemon.
