I finally sorted through my dad's old review magazines from the 90s.
He saved every issue of a local tech review paper that covered neighborhood electronics fairs. Reading them now, it's wild how much hands on testing has moved to screens. Would people today even bother with a printed gadget guide?

It's crazy holding actual paper reviews after years of just scrolling. My uncle kept car magazines like that, and you could tell they really used the stuff before writing. Now a lot of sites just copy the press release. There was something about planning a trip to the store with a folded page in your pocket.

Sure some online reviews are lazy, but good ones still test things for real.

My mom's old cookbooks had food stains on the favorite pages, that was the real review. I still make her spaghetti sauce from the one with a dried tomato splash on the instructions.
