Why I avoid using lacquer for kitchen chair refinishing

Most folks say lacquer is the best for durability. In my experience, it chips too easily on daily use furniture.

My phone's 'scratch proof' screen got a huge scratch from my keys. It's the same story with lots of so called durable finishes. Real world use always finds the weak spots.

Yeah the "most durable" thing never matches real life. Reminds me of how everyone says certain phone cases are indestructible but then you see them cracked everywhere.

It's like these companies test phones in a bubble, not in actual pockets full of keys and loose change. Wendy_perry's story about the scratch proof screen is a perfect example of that. They probably have a guy in a lab coat gently rubbing a feather on the screen to call it durable. But in the real world, we're all just tossing our phones around like they're indestructible until they're not. And don't get me started on phone cases, the 'indestructible' ones always seem to crack at the first drop on concrete. It's all marketing hype, and we keep falling for it because we want to believe our stuff won't break.
