I never liked water-based poly until last week
I always thought oil-based finishes were the only way for a tough top coat. Then my local guild had a talk on new air quality rules. They showed how water-based options have improved a lot. I tried it on a pine bench I was doing for a cafe. It dried so fast and didn't smell bad at all. The finish is holding up really well with heavy use. Now I'm telling everyone to give it a shot.

Less yellowing over time is a huge plus for furniture.

Totally feel you on that, caleb_thomas85. My old desk yellowed so bad it looked like it got a sunburn.

Sunburned desk is a perfect way to put it. Mine yellowed so bad I started telling people it was a rare banana wood finish. They didn't buy it, and now I'm stuck with a piece that looks as tired as I feel.
