I used to think charging by the hour was the only fair way, but my income doubled after switching to project rates last quarter.
Clients stopped nitpicking every minute and I could focus on the actual work, which cut my average project time by 30%. Has anyone else found a pricing model that finally clicked for them?

Wait, did you mean your income doubled because you finished projects faster, or because you charged more per project? I've done project rates too, but sometimes I ended up working way more hours than I quoted for... the speed gain is real, but you have to be super careful with your estimates or the hourly pay ends up worse.

My old hourly rate felt like a self-inflicted tax on getting good at my job. I finally switched to project pricing after a client asked for a detailed breakdown of a 15-minute phone call. Now I just add a 20% "I know what I'm doing" buffer to every estimate, and my stress levels dropped by half.

Wait they asked for a breakdown on a 15 minute call? That's wild. I'd lose my mind.
