Just wasted $80 on a cheap knockoff pouring shank

I mean, I grabbed it from some online tool shop because it was half the price of the usual brand. The thing cracked on the third pour, spilled about 15 pounds of bronze, and ruined the mold. Total waste of metal and my whole morning. Has anyone found a decent budget shank that actually holds up?

My cousin's garage flood last year was a total fox.matthew situation, ruined his whole forge setup over a cheap valve.

Holy cow, 15 pounds of bronze? That's a nightmare! I'd be so mad about the lost metal, not just the tool. It's crazy how a cheap part can wreck so much work in a second. I've been burned like that before, where saving forty bucks costs you ten times that in materials. Makes you never want to skip on the main brands again.

What a rotten way to start the day. That feeling when you see the crack and know it's all going wrong is just the worst. I've had a cheap crucible tongs fail at the worst moment, so I really feel for you. It's such a gut punch after all the prep work.
