Used to hate Friday wedding prep, now I actually look forward to it
I used to dread Friday setups for Saturday weddings. It always felt like extra work with no payoff. Then last month I had a Friday prep for a wedding in Portland with 12 centerpieces and 4 large altar arrangements. The bride showed up with her mom while I was still folding in the hydrangeas on the back table. She saw the blush peonies and cried right there in the cooler. That moment hit different. It made me realize Friday prep lets clients see the flowers before the chaos of the actual day. Now I actually recommend it to couples. Has anyone else changed their mind about scheduling after a good experience?

My buddy who does weddings in Seattle had the same thing happen with a bride and her grandma. She saw the ranunculus on Friday night and apparently said it looked like her grandmother's garden from the 80s. He said that one moment made every extra hour of setup worth it for him.

Wait, she cried over the peonies? Did you have to stop and give her a minute or just keep working?

Honestly, "every extra hour of setup was worth it" is the line that gets me. That's a serious statement right there. Did your buddy say what happened after she cried, or did he just leave her be and go back to work? I'm curious if the bride tried to play it cool and act like she wasn't a mess, or if she just owned it. Ngl, the way people handle those raw emotional moments tells you a lot about them.
