My aunt swore by soaking peonies in warm water for an hour before arranging, and it actually worked.
I tried it on a wilting batch from the Saturday market, and they perked right up. Anyone else have a weird old trick that saved a delivery?

Oh that peony trick is a lifesaver. My grandma used to swear by the aspirin in the vase water thing for roses. Crush up a regular aspirin tablet and mix it in. Sounds nuts but it gave my last sad bouquet an extra three days. Those old tips really do come through sometimes.

Did she ever try aspirin on other flowers besides roses?

Seems like a waste of good aspirin to me.
