TIL filter apps don't just add effects, they mess with your phone's camera settings too
I used to think filters were just overlays and moved on. But last month I was snapping a pic of my cat for Instagram and noticed the app cranked up the exposure and sharpness behind the scenes. After the filter glitched and half my cat's face turned into a blurry rainbow blob, I went digging in the settings. Found out Snapchat tweaks things like white balance and contrast to make filters work, which is why your regular camera shots look different. Now I check those hidden sliders before applying anything, especially for low light pics. Has anyone else noticed weird camera behavior after using filters for a while?

Did you notice if any of those hidden adjustments stuck around after you closed the filter app? I've been wondering if they reset each time or if the camera keeps those settings cached somewhere. Kinda annoying if you forget to check and end up with overblown photos for no reason.

You know what, I used to be the type who just assumed those settings would reset every time I closed the app. I figured it was safer to double check everything before shooting. But honestly, you got me thinking and now I'm not so sure. I started paying closer attention after seeing your post and sure enough, some of those hidden adjustments actually stayed put even after I shut the filter app down completely. Totally caught me off guard. Makes me wonder why they don't tell you that upfront, right?

Honestly that sounds like user error, those settings always reset for me so maybe check your phone's permissions instead.
