My sauerkraut went from perfect to pink slime in 48 hours
I had a big batch of cabbage fermenting in my kitchen for about a week, and it smelled great. Then on Tuesday, the temperature in my apartment spiked when the AC broke, and by Thursday the whole jar was a weird, pink, mushy mess. I'm pretty sure the heat killed the good stuff and let something else take over. Has anyone else had a ferment go bad that fast from a sudden warm spell?

Yeah, that "pink slime" description is a real bummer. I mean, it's crazy how a quick heat spike can just wreck a ferment that was doing so well. Total kitchen heartbreak.

Wait, a heat spike can actually cause that pink slime? That's wild! I always thought it was just from bad bugs or something. Makes total sense though, the good bacteria probably just give up when it gets too hot. What a brutal way to lose a batch. You must have been so frustrated watching it happen.
