My old glass airlock cracked in the middle of a big kimchi ferment
It happened about two weeks ago, right after I packed a 2-gallon jar. I heard a small pop from the pantry and found the whole thing split down the side. I had to dump the batch, which was a real bummer because the cabbage was perfect. Now I'm using plastic lids with the little bubbler things, but it doesn't feel the same. Anyone have a good source for thick glass jars that can take the pressure?

Ever try a stainless steel fermenting crock? My Fido jars have held up for years without a crack.

Honestly, glass just feels more authentic to me (and it's way easier to see what's going on in there).

That exact thing happened to my last sauerkraut batch. Glass is great until it suddenly isn't. Switched to a heavy duty stoneware crock and it feels way more solid for long ferments.
