That sourdough starter being older than your car hits on something. We keep these living things, like starters or houseplants, for years while we cycle through stuff we bought. My buddy has a jade plant from his grandma's kitchen, but he's on his third phone this year. The things that need a little care every day seem to outlast the expensive gadgets.

Wait, he's really on his third phone this year? That's wild! I guess gadgets are made to break now, but a plant just needs some water and light. It really shows what lasts when you put a little time into it.
