That one week where every post hole felt like hitting concrete

We had a job in this old part of town, and the ground was packed with rocks and old roots. After breaking two auger bits on day one, my partner had the idea to rent a demo hammer with a clay spade bit. We got through the rest of the 24 holes in half the time we thought it would take. Anyone else have a go-to trick for crazy hard ground?

You're right @the_robin, that stuff feels like digging into solid rock.

Yeah that "solid rock" feeling is so real. I got through something like that by just going way slower and using a smaller tool to break it up bit by bit. Took forever but trying to force it just made everything worse. Sometimes you have to chip away at the edges first.
