A squirrel stole my post level right out of the truck bed yesterday

I was setting up for a cedar fence job in Springfield, had the level sitting on the tailgate while I grabbed a drill. This little gray squirrel just hopped up, grabbed it by the handle, and ran off into the neighbor's yard with it. I mean, what do you even do in that situation, chase a squirrel through someone's garden? Anyone had a tool straight up stolen by wildlife before?

Wildlife theft is a real thing. Had a raccoon run off with a whole bag of bagels from my porch last week. @emery_young13 is right, chasing them is a lost cause. You just watch your stuff vanish into the bushes. Nature's little kleptos.

Those little bandits have zero shame. My neighbor left a pizza box out overnight and woke up to a full raccoon family reunion on his lawn. At some point you just have to accept they're better thieves than we are at securing our snacks.
