A squirrel family moved into my post hole in Denver

I was setting a corner post for a cedar fence in a Denver backyard last month, and I left a 3-foot hole open overnight. The next morning, I found a mother squirrel and four babies tucked inside, using it as a nest. I had to gently move them into a box with some old rags and set it nearby, then wait two hours for her to move them all out before I could pour the concrete. Has anyone else had wildlife decide your work site was prime real estate?

Ever think about how many half-finished projects become animal Airbnbs? @jakel36's raccoon story is classic, but at least your squirrel squatters were quiet tenants. Bet the concrete truck showing up was their eviction notice.

Leaving a hole open overnight... that's basically putting out a "Now Leasing" sign for squirrels. I once had a raccoon try to claim my tool bag as a summer home.

Did you read about that guy who found a whole family of skunks living under his deck? Reminds me of @jakel36's raccoon story.
