Warning: I just blew $200 on 'eco-friendly' fabric that pills like crazy

I was designing a capsule collection and got sold on this new bamboo-blend jersey that was supposed to be sustainable and durable. The supplier swore it would hold up to washing. I made three sample tops and after one gentle cycle, they were covered in pills and looked five years old. That's $200 in material down the drain, not counting my time. I'm so annoyed because the whole point was quality basics. Has anyone found a truly sturdy sustainable knit that doesn't fall apart?

Used to think bamboo was the FUTURE but my own pilled hoodie changed my mind.

Did a friend's bamboo tee turn into a fuzz ball after one wash, @nancy475?

Yeah my sister bought these bamboo sheets that felt amazing at first. Now they're kinda rough and pilled up in the corners.
