Walked through a vintage clothing market in Portland last weekend and noticed how every jacket from the 90s had these giant shoulder pads that nobody wears anymore.

Made me wonder if we'll ever circle back to that boxy look or if it's just permanently dated - has anyone else seen old trends pop up again in weird ways?

@evan_wilson18 nailed it with that 20 year cycle idea. High school kids right now are wearing baggy jeans and band tees that look exactly like what we wore back in the 90s, so shoulder pads are probably due for a comeback too. Just give it another few years and you'll see some influencer bring them back as a fresh new thing.

You know whats funny, I still have a pair of shoulder pads I saved from my moms 80s blazer that I wore ironically to a party a few years back. Tried to pass them off as a fashion statement but everyone just asked if I was about to go play linebacker for the local team. I guess the 20 year cycle skips me every time, because I always end up looking like a costume party reject instead of trendy. Even my teenager rolled their eyes at me and said mom, thats not how you do it. So yeah, your mileage may vary on that revival timeline, I clearly missed the memo.
