That paste consistency tip is spot on, it makes all the difference. I found adding a tiny drop of dish soap to the mix helps it stick to the fabric better without getting weird and chalky. You gotta work in really small sections and keep the brush dry for that final scrub, it pulls the pigment out of the high spots perfectly. What kind of brush did you end up using for the scrubbing part?

Actually, you don't want a totally dry brush for that final scrub. If it's bone dry it can create too much dust and you might scrub off more than you want. I dampen mine just a little, like a barely wet bristle, so it grabs the pigment without making a mess.

Tried this on an old pair of chinos last year. Mix the dry pigment with a little bit of water to make a thick paste, then rub it into the fabric with a rag, focusing on seams and pockets. Let it dry completely before scrubbing it off with a stiff brush, it leaves a cool, gritty texture. The key is not to use too much water in your paste or it just stains everything evenly.
