My friend bet me I couldn't make a dress out of a shower curtain in a weekend

I took the bet, and let me tell you, comparing a real silk charmeuse to a vinyl shower liner is a quick way to learn about fabric choice. I spent a whole Saturday trying to get the plastic to drape right, but it just crinkled and stuck to my skin. The final thing looked like a sad, shiny potato sack. Meanwhile, I made a simple slip dress from a yard of actual silk in about two hours on Sunday, and it felt amazing. Has anyone else tried using a totally wrong material for a project and had it go hilariously bad?
