Just realized my cheap fabric scissors were ruining my silk samples

I was cutting a yard of that slippery charmeuse for a blouse idea and my old $15 scissors kept snagging the threads, but then I borrowed my friend's Gingher dressmaker shears. The clean cut made the whole draping process way easier and the edges looked perfect. Has anyone else found a specific tool that totally changed how a fabric behaves for them?

My rotary cutter was a total game changer for chiffon. I used to hack at it with my kitchen scissors like a barbarian, leaving these sad frayed edges. Now I get clean lines on the first try, which is good because my patience for pinning is about zero.

Oh, I felt that barbarian stage in my soul. I tried cutting silk with pinking shears once and it just crawled away from me like a living thing. Some fabrics really do demand the right tool from the start.

Remember my friend who tried cutting satin with a butter knife?
