A ripped seam disaster with my silk blazer design
I used a lightweight silk for a structured blazer sample. The shoulder seams gave out during a simple arm movement. What fabrics hold up better for tailored pieces?

Oof, silk is a nightmare for structure. Try a wool blend or even a good cotton canvas. Lightweight silk just doesn't have the body to hold a shape or take the stress. You need something with a bit more guts for a jacket that actually moves with you.

Hey @thomas_wood, I get your take, but a heavier silk can actually work. It's all about picking the right weave and construction.

Honestly, that bit about lightweight silk not having enough body rings true. I had a linen jacket that did the same thing, just fell apart when I reached for something. It's not just about the fabric weight, but how it's put together.
