Vent: A simple hoof crack repair turned into a two hour job

Had a client's draft horse with a small vertical crack near the toe. Figured it would be a quick clean and patch. The crack ran way deeper than it looked, almost to the laminae. Ended up having to do a full bar shoe with clips for stabilization. Took the whole morning. Anyone else get blindsided by a crack like that?

Honestly why are you even complaining? Isn't that just part of the job? You should expect the worst case every time you look at a hoof. Two hours for a proper fix sounds about right to me, not some big surprise. Maybe you just need to plan your day better if one tough job throws you off.

Expect the worst case every single time? That's a pretty wild way to live your life... I'd be a nervous wreck. Some jobs just go sideways no matter how much you plan.

Stop whining and be glad you caught it before it got way worse.
